Since Marcello joined BJ’s Wholesale, he has been instrumental in reshaping its retail and distribution systems. As leader of the robotics and automation team, Marcello spearheads strategy development, program management and execution.

Marcello’s work extends beyond immediate automation impacts, contributing to the development of BJ’s long-term operational technology strategy. His unique position overseeing both retail and distribution automation allows him to foster synergies across the operation.

Among his achievements, Marcello deployed Simbe Robotics’ Tally across more than 240 BJ’s locations, enhancing in-club operations and distribution centers as well as omni and B2B channels. Through innovative data integration, Marcello has enhanced how BJ’s Wholesale delivers value to its members, and his strategic vision and execution are pivotal in redefining retail industry standards.

Prior to his role at BJ’s, Marcello developed and led the team at Amazon responsible for robotics deployment to scale the Sub-Same Day network across North America. He also helped launch the online giant’s standard robotic fulfillment centers in North America and Europe, including the first robotics-based building in Italy.
