Laura Miller

Sr. Manager of Retail Inventory Systems & Development

Giant Eagle

Laura takes an innovative approach to investigating inventory challenges related to theft and fraud at Giant Eagle. Leading the Retail Inventory Systems and Development team, she has worked with the leadership team to identify losses and possible solutions.

During her tenure, she has worked with Appriss Retail to remap Giant Eagle’s POS data to foster actionable insights that improve inventory investigation accuracy. She also introduced updated work items that improved Giant Eagle’s ability to identify outlying transaction behaviors that indicate risk for fraud. As a result of her leadership and her team’s use of Appriss Retail’s Secure solution, the retailer increased inventory investigation efficiency by 85%.

As a manager and team leader, Laura ensures everyone’s unique skill sets are appreciated and is always available to support her team as they tackle complex inventory investigations. Outside of the organization, Laura also provides transparent insights into retail trends and challenges, especially at industry events.

In addition to her work with Giant Eagle, Laura has led major charitable campaigns for United Way, including a bake-off she hosted and coordinated. Her professional work was recognized in 2020, when she was awarded a Top Women in Grocery Rising Star award from Progressive Grocer, in addition to numerous internal awards given by Giant Eagle leadership.
