How do you explain your profession to people outside of the industry? What do you find most exciting and/or rewarding about this work?
I usually explain that I am in store communications and that I am in constant contact with more than 45,000 people each day, sending them need-to-know information to operate a store efficiently and effectively. The most exciting thing about my job is that you never really know what to expect going into each day. With the retail landscape constantly changing, there is always a new challenge to take on and solve for.
Being part of a healthcare company, the most rewarding thing I find about my job is at the end of the day, we are impacting the lives of not only our associates but all of the customers and the communities we serve in our mission to help them achieve whole health for life!
What milestone or accomplishment have you made in your career that you are most proud of?
I would have to say my promotion into my current role as Senior Administrator of Store Communications. In a short year, this position has provided me with so much knowledge and the flexibility to really allow my creative mind to come to life by turning our communication tool into a fun and engaging place for our associates to access and use daily!
What is one notable achievement (personal or professional) that you've made over the past year?
Aside from receiving this award, I always like to use the saying “optimize everything.” Over the past year, we were able to make great strides to hyper-localize thousands of pages of content to our store teams and associates. Plus, we laid some of the groundwork to begin integrating many different software solutions into our communication tool, streamlining the applications and services they use daily in an effort to make our communication tool a one-stop shop for our store teams.
What is a piece of media that has inspired you professionally?
It’s got to be the movie Ratatouille! It’s not only one of my top five Pixar movies, but it has such a great storyline. Truly, what is more bizarre than a rat that wants to become a chef? Without giving away too many spoilers, throughout the movie you hear a motto that “anyone can cook.” The fact that an average rat with a passion for cooking is able to curate a meal that impresses a renowned food critic, just goes to show that if you have passion and drive to achieve something, no matter what adversities you may face, you can truly accomplish anything.
