Marathon Sports originally debuted in response to the 1970s running craze in Cambridge, Mass. as a small running store, and now operates 11 locations in the Northeast. Colleagues credit much of Marathon Sports’ success to Folino, who launched its ecommerce operations in 2012 and expanded it to more than $20 million in revenue in less than 10 years. Folino helped transform Marathon Sports into a leading omnichannel retailer within the run specialty space. In 2020, he led the implementation of several key strategies that resulted in nearly 250% digital growth, which was key to keeping all of Marathon’s brick-and-mortar locations open through the pandemic.
